The test must have been performed in the United States or Canada within the last 6 months. What are the 2 types of ways to get a TB Test?
- The first is a skin test. If you schedule on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday then 48 afterwards which could be Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. You can have it read by one of our Nurse Practitioners during the Wellness Center normal business hours.
- The second is a Blood draw which only requires one appointment. This option is more costly but more accurate.
Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG)
If you are a student who has received the BCG which is a vaccine for (TB) tuberculosis disease. The vaccine can cause a false-positive TB skin test reaction. The Wellness Center recommends getting a TB blood draw. This will ensure a more accurate result. If it does come back abnormal, further testing will be required before the Wellness Center can process the TB Questionnaire.
Parents/Legal Guardian
If your student is a minor at the time time the TB Questionnaire is due, please make sure you sign the document. You will receive an email from "WellnessCenter_DF@udmercy.edu".
